4/3/10 Saturday – in Sun City
What a nice day to run highway 60 to Yarnell Az with Dave and Pat. The ride continues up and up as our ears clear. As we twist and turn to 4,800 feet a beautiful overlook of the valley below. On one of the corners was a police car, waiting for the crotch rockets to speed up the hill, he sat there until we returned. In the distance below was a cattle feedlot, why way out there? Well you don’t have to worry about the neighbors and the smell. Thank goodness for places like this, it gives me the meat I like best. Why we went there? It was to go to a gift store called the Santa Fe House – Home of Brand New Dead Things. An old shack that is stuffed with horse skulls, wood from the saguaro cactus, coyote skins for 60$, a three foot tall wood carved tropical fish – like a angel fish – would have taken this home but no room and 450$, dried artichoke blossoms and much more, should have taken a picture. She said business was down 50%, and on top of that Pat found a saguaro piece for 30$ and the lady could not run the credit card and she lost the she because of that. In another store found a spaetzle maker stamped made in Austria – have always wanted one of these but resisted the temptation at only 13.50$.
We started back and they wanted to eat at a favorite Mexican restaurant in Wickenberg Anita Cocina; http://www.azod.com/webs/anita/ - a place to stop for great Mexican foods. The chips are to die for, light, thin and crispy with of course mild and hot salsa. Great Chicken Quesadilla; chimichonga; cheese enchilada; a tamale, taco, rice and beans all great and would go back for more. This place is visited by many bikers and has an old horse drawn carriage with a male horse – need I say more?
4/5/10 Monday – in Sun City
Pat and Dave's house is nestled in amongst a golf course in Sun City.
Here are a couple pics and
Dave thought we would wash the car before we took off. He is always taking care of me and the car. Shirleen really appreciated the wash, as did I. As we rounded the corner Shirleen took a picture of the blooming cactus; we then saw an old Model AA ton and a half grain truck that had gone past us while we were washing the Vette.
I include him in the pic as he takes this vehicle out each Pearl Harbor day and takes the men that are still alive for a ride in the parade.
Sun City Grand
We visited Gene and Jerri A. from our old Candi Lane home. It had been 18 years since last saw. As most times, it was just a blast to relive and tell old tails. They live in Sun City Grand. We ate at Dillions again, twice in one day with two different people. Good once fair twice, my baby back ribs were over cooked. They go to Las Vegas and have driven in a NASCAR cars for 100$ for three laps with their driver driving. Jeri was ecstatic to tell us how much fun that was; hitting the back stretch at 170 MPH. Richard Petty has a number of tracks with this ability. They told us many stories; one on the scorpions that invaded their home, only 5 or so but 200 on their outside back wall. Thought this was caused by someone in the neighborhood cut down a palm and it housed the scorpions. About the termites that can invade the wood in the house. All in all they really enjoy the move 13 years ago. We left a little after midnight – never thought I could make it. Jerr
